POST OFFICE CHANGE OF ADDRESS FOR WEST SIDE update as of May 19th 2008 Sandra Alvarez of the USPS has been communicating with Mario Mainero at Supervisor Moorlach's office and she reported,β The ZIP code change can not take effect until July 2009. There is a national policy in regards to 3-digit realignment (927 to 926 is the 3-digit change we are requesting) that states (POM Issue 9, July 2002, section 439.62): βThe actual proposal package must be received at the area office (Pacific Area) by October 15 and by the Office of Address Management (Headquarters) no later than December 15 of the year before the expected implementation date. Proposals received by the Office of Address Management after the deadlines will be deferred to the following year.β The request for the ZIP code change from the City of Newport Beach was dated November 29, 2007. We were unable to make these deadlines due to the date the request was received.β
